It's highly recomended by many boating Organizations and Associations to leave a Float Plan behind with someone in case of an emergency. Float Plans Save Lives!
It's very simple. A Float Plan is a plan that you put in writing before you go boating, a document you can leave with someone that describes where you are going and when you are expected back. It contains information such as Name of Boat, Departure Time, time you are expected to Arrive, and a phone number if you don't show. Should something unexpected happen on your journey, the Coast Guard or your Family and Friends can send for help, call your cell phone, or reach you on your listed radio channels.
Whether it be a Fishing Trip or a Pleasure Cruise, leaving behind a Float Plan is simply a wise and safe decision.
